This is one of my older photos, taken in 2006 with the Kodak camera. I was experimenting with taking moon photos, and tried out this framing technique with the palm trees silhouetted against the twilight sky, and the fronds reaching from the top of the picture downwards to the moon. I think it turned out fairly well, although the moon is quite small due to the minute 3x zoom offered by the Kodak camera.
You can just see the colours of the setting sun reflecting off the top of the palm trees.
Update: Tom and other readers pointed out that you can actually see a face in this picture - look at the curve of the tree on the left for a nose, and the moon becomes an eye. Thanks Tom!

Sea Shell on the Beach Sand
Sea shell in sand

Shell in Sand at the Beach
Shell in Sand at the Beach
I was browsing through some of my old photos the other day, and found this beautiful shot of a Sea Shell. I took this at Moonee Beach, near Coffs Harbour, NSW some years ago. This photo really reminds me of the "early morning at the beach" experience, with the seaweed and waves just visible in the background. I can almost feel the gentle grit of the cool sand underfoot (or actually under-nose, as I was lying down on the sand when I took this photo!)
Do you have any memories of the beach that you would like to share? Post a comment with your memories of your favourite beach holiday.

Fishing Boat and Pelican at Dawn
I took this photo on a recent holiday to Lake Cootharaba, near Noosa. The shade of a nearby tree gives the photo a blueish tone. You can clearly see the ropes on the deck of the small fishing boat, and the pelican in the background looking out over the water for breakfast.

Wave erasing footprints
Here's another "sand" photo for you. This one illustrates a set of footprints leading diagonally away from an upcoming wave. This picture seems to give the impression of impending motion, as if the wave is just about to rush up and envelop the footprints on the sea shore.

Following in his footsteps...
Here is an interesting "uncluttered" photo of two dog paw-prints in the sand. Somehow photos in the sand always seem to bring a different perspective into an image. Maybe it's the contrast of similar matter in the image, making the whole picture something like an embossed image. The prints are somewhat the wrong way around for "following in footsteps" though - the larger print is behind the smaller one!

This photo shows the amazing power of a wave! The splash from this wave has burst high into the air, and it's movement is captured in the image, making it seem as if the wave is about to fall to the ground as you watch! This photo is also taken at Moonee Beach, near Coffs Harbour, NSW Australia.
