Hi merging point,
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping round again. In our part of the country, rainbows are certainly rare, so we make the most of them when they come!
Cheers,
David
Hi digitalshuttermania,
ReplyDeleteI love rainbows as well. They are a wonderful sign of new life after the rain, a sign of things to come.
Cheers,
David
Absolutely lovely. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Lana,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I appreciate your compliments.
See you later,
David
I'm so glad I found your blog. I traveled to Australia in 1999, touring the country for three months, studying biology, geology, and environmental issues. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteTom
Hi Tom,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and leaving a comment. That's interesting that you came to Australia in 1999, a lot has changed since then. 8 years makes a lot of difference in the cities, but stuff out in the bush remains fairly much intact. But you should know that if you were studying environmental issues. :)
Glad you like the blog, look forward to seeing you again soon!
Cheers,
David
That is interesting about the changes that have gone on. I'm not sure I was really in the cities enough to know, although I was in Canberra for about two weeks and in Sydney for 10 days, with very brief stays in Melbourne, and small cities like Rockhampton, Alice Springs, and Coff's Harbor.
ReplyDeleteWhen I returned from OZ, way back in 1999, I made this little web page of my trip...

So is VB still very popular?
Hi Tom,
ReplyDeleteYour account of your Australian trip is very interesting. I think some of the small cities you passed through back then are now not-so-small - Rockhampton and Coff's Harbour are fairly big now, although Alice Springs is relatively small due to it's location.
VB is still popular, although it depend who you ask!
Hope you get a chance to come back to Australia some time in the future, it really is a great spot to get some unique nature.
Cheers,
David
Wow David you are so close to see the ending. I always thought that rainbow's ends are usually not that close, until few years ago I saw one front of the industrial building, no camera then, but it was so cool to say wow I saw the end of the rainbow. Great photo, Anna :)
ReplyDeleteHi Anna,
ReplyDeleteWe thought about going to try and see the end of this one, but it was starting to fade. That's amazing that you actually got to see the end of a rainbow - most people never have!
Cheers,
David
Wow, what a spectacular capture! It's like looking into a fantasy world....
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda,
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it almost seems as if the trees are a frame into another world. The rainbow itself seems somewhat unreal as it's edges just fade into the sky. This was definitely a great time to have a camera available!
Cheers,
David
Just lovely! I've never been that close to a rainbow. I've seen them, but they always seem to be far off and faded. This is one of the brightest I've seen. You were very fortunate to have your camera handy!
ReplyDeleteHi angie,
ReplyDeleteThis photo does make the rainbow seem a lot closer than it really was. I zoomed in about 10x to get this pic, so it really looked quite far away.
But it certainly was providential that I should have my camera ready, especially here where the Sun is just shining over the trees at the bottom of the rainbow - creating a "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow"!
Cheers,
David
