Pilgrims Progress

The Pilgrims Progress
World Youth Day Pilgrims at Barangaroo

I took this photo during World Youth Day, on the night of the opening Mass. This is basically the view I had while trying to move through the throngs of pilgrims crowding the exit points. The colourful beanies are not just for show - it was quite cold that night! As soon as the opening Mass had finished, people were crowding around every exit point trying to find a way out. It was difficult to stay together as a group in such a crowd, so we just stayed put and enjoyed the beautiful sight of Sydney during WYD at night!

  1. I am a pilgrim of WYD08 - and I was in Barangaroo this night. The mass was beautiful, and I agree, this was indeed a beautiful sight of Sydney during WYD! WYD08 was so awesome! I can't wait for MadWYD'11!!

  3. Hi Kathy,

Same here - I'm already starting to save for WYD Madrid. Incidentally, I see you've noticed the "mad" acronym for WYD2001 - I wonder what the official name is going to be?

    Cheers,

  4. Hi Abraham Lincoln,

Thanks for dropping round again and giving your feedback on the photo. I was wondering how another photographer would see this picture!

All the Best until we meet again.

    Cheers,

    David

  5. David you don't need to respond to me if you are busy. I can write you an email if there is something urgent. I just enjoy looking at your photos and reading about your exploits. And I like this photo. It's very colorful. Taking pics of the backs of people is something I enjoy doing as well. I read you are not supposed to do it but why not? It can be very dramatic at times.
