Lettuce Leaf - God's Fractals in Nature
Yesterday I was out in the garden checking the lettuce plants we have growing, and I happened to look down from directly above a plant to see this pattern. The lettuce leaves formed a complicated pattern resembling the precise mathematical form of a fractal. The very fine edges of each leaf are curled in a delicate pattern which imitates the fractal's recursive spirals. This is an example of how creation is so complete - the forms which our best mathematicians struggle with are reproduced in nature without any human intervention! This photo taken with the Fujifilm S9600 digital camera.

Beautiful one1
ReplyDeleteTrue! "Creation is so complete"
just one's outlook and the mind interprets as it wishes.
Hi merging point,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. The world of nature is a most amazing creation, and more complete than anything man has ever made. It's just up to us to take care of it.
Cheers,
David

Great picture. It takes an artistic eye to spot something like this, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi angie,
ReplyDeleteThis is actually the third time I have been tagged, so I really should get around to it this time! I'll certainly try, thanks for thinking of me too.
Cheers,

Hi chris,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and for your comment. I'm glad you like the "fractals of creation". Hope I'll see you round again.

I am worm and I am hungry ; )
ReplyDeleteNice view and you make your lettuce more interesting.
Hi DSM,
ReplyDeleteMmmm, sounds like a nice tasty worm meal! I think you're not the only one who likes this lettuce - the butterflies like to lay their eggs on these tasty plants for their grubs to eat too.
Cheers,
David
Gorgeous! Thanks for the great photo and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of the Marcie Hans poem:
Fueled by a million man-made wings of fire -
the rocket tore a tunnel through the sky -
and everybody cheered.
Fueled only by a thought from God
the seedling urged its way through the thickness of black
and as it pierced the heavy ceiling of the soil and launched itself up into outer space -
no
one
even
clapped.

Hi Garden Lily,
ReplyDeleteThat's a great poem! It fits exactly into the spirit of this picture. Great comment!
Cheers,

Beautiful photo. But I do not think creation is complete as you commented. If it was babies would be born with clothes on.
