  2. David, I am not big fan of the big spiders, but I am big fan of photographing spider webs if I could only find them, we usually see them more in the fall. However, yours is just beautiful, it is real piece of work. Thanks for sharing, Anna :)

  3. Hi Sandpiper,

I always wonder at the beauty of these natural creations. Even though I took this photo, it's really the spider that did the work. No matter how hard we try to create, God has always provided the ultimate beauty before us! :)

    Cheers,

    David

  4. Hi Anna,

I never really liked spiders either. Recently we've had a whole lot of them here, they must like the cold weather or something. Anyway, I can just go out in the morning and literally run into them!

    Cheers,

    David

  5. David-

I remember seeing some really cool australian spiders, including ones that would make huge webs with threads that attached there web to a tree that were up to six feet long. Great shot. Was the spider home?

  6. WOW! I like the way the lines all lead to the top left hand of the picture. I would certainly like to see some more of this type of shot!

  7. Hi Tom,

I think the spider was home, although I didn't see him. Probably hiding in the leaf!

We certainly get long spider webs here - the longest we recorded went from the house to a large tree nearby - a distance of over 15 ft!!!

    Cheers,

    David

  10. What an interesting image! I like the way you angled into it, very nice. We actually have spider web images posted right now on both our blogs…

  11. Hi livingsword,

The angle was actually more of a neccessity than a design - the sun was in such a position that this was the only way I could take the photo! I'm glad you like it.

I'll check out your spider web photo too........

    Cheers,

    David

  12. Hi David;

My wife is actually the one who has photography talent on our blogs, I am improving but she is quite good.

I hear you on the light, one of the “hazards” of nature photography. Still very cool image, the non-classical view of the webbing is interesting.

  15. Hi digitalshuttermania,

Thanks for your comment. As I said to Livingsword, the lighting is mostly accidental! I'm glad you like it.

    Cheers,

  17. Hi Carol,

Spider webs I find are particularly difficult, even more so than lightning shots. The trick I've found is to set a low aperture (low depth of field) and find a good, monochrome background (darker colours work best). All the best!

    Cheers,

    David
