Weird Clouds Hiding the Sun - Sky Watch Friday

Sun shining through a gap in the strange clouds
Sky Watch Friday
Strange looking clouds cover the sun
This sky actually looked quite bland when seen in real life, but I somehow felt the urge to take a photo of it. Maybe it was the framing with the tops of the houses at the bottom and the tree silhouette, but regardless of the reason I took the photo. This is what it turned out like. By focusing on the sun and adjusting the white balance for it, the clouds are made to look ominous and threatening, when they are far from it in reality!

This was shot with a 28mm (equivalent) lens, making it appear slightly "fish-eyed".

  2. That is a good shot really. It looks like very goth and I like the tree on the side very much. Its like the dawn of the vampires stuff. I did some similar shots in the woods once check this out.

  3. Hi Sandpiper,

Thanks, I appreciate your comment. The sky has so many different feelings, it's wonderful how a simple capture can convey such a feeling.

  5. I love the hole in the clouds. It looks as if they are swirling around it, or that the sun is trying to fight it's way through the thickness.

  6. Hi Angie,

Yes, there's lot's of different ways to interpret this one. I love your description, it shows some real imagination. I think the clouds look like they're swirling around too, the fisheye view probably helps with that.

  8. Hi Anna,

This storm was actually moving away from us, but you can't see the difference in the photo. :) I also made it look more threatening too by slightly under-exposing it.

    Cheers,

    David
